The Shedd

Celine, her grandpa and I went to the Shedd in downtown Chicago this past Saturday.  Great and bad idea.  Great because it was a bright and sunny day.  Bad because it was packed with little shits everywhere and their germ hands.  (Parking available if there isn’t any on the street, also valet!) It’s like people haven’t seen fish before and they have lost all sorts of manners!  Like hello can you please move?!  Why are you here if you don’t have any kids??  Is that weird that I think like that?

Just kidding have fun looking at fish because I sure as shit didn’t get to really see any since I was watch guard of this big ass stroller and our jackets inside of it.  But my dad and Celine had so much fun!  I mean it really is a great place for toddlers (on a leash).  Seriously, if it wasn’t for my dad there and that amount of people, I would’ve walked in and right out.

Not sure if Celine knew what was actually going around in the fish tanks but its good to introduce her to other living things since she loves her dog, Nelly, so much.  They had a petting area for some sort of fish (um no thanks) but Celine was loving it!

They also have a great coral reef area that I thought we had to buy tickets for but turns out it is a part of your general admission.  I would say that was our favorite part since the aquarium is in front of us, below us and over our head. Celine thought it was hilarious that she can “step” on the fish.

I totally kept her past her bedtime, which for me is a big no no, but my dad drove all the way from Arlington Heights and we were barely there an hour.  So we decided to fill our bellies.  I totally didn’t know how easy their set up is to have lunch there.  Pick what you want, order your food and drink, duh, pay and grab your number.  I get anxiety when there is a crowd and we have to seat ourselves.  But it was fine.  My dad is 6 foot 4 and he zoomed to the table next to the window that overlooks Lake Michigan.  Food was great and our server was so nice.  Stuffed our faces and we were out.  After a big morning, especially after a nap, you feel like you won this huge marathon because there is so much work into getting there. You feel happy that their little brains got to see so much, especially because now you know that they will knock the fuck out for nap time!
